Program Description

The Computer Forensics/Network Security program is designed to provide students with capabilities in several areas of computing:

  • Digital evidence recovery
  • Forensic laboratory analysis
  • Legal and technical issues regarding seizure and acquiring computer evidence, and chain of custody
  • Computer network protocols and security, intrusion detection, and network forensics

This certificate is intended to provide students with the essential skills, knowledge and experience necessary to deal with computer forensics and computer/network security.

Program Goals

Upon graduation from the Information Technology / Computer Forensics/Network Security program, graduates will be prepared to:

  1. Plan, coordinate and implement network, computer/systems technical procedures to retrieve data.
  2. Answer user inquiries regarding software and hardware operation to retrieve digital information.
  3. Keep records and prepare reports detailing findings, investigative methods and laboratory techniques.
  4. Demonstrate professional conduct including responsibility, effective communication and ethical standards.
Career Opportunities

This certificate will provide you with the knowledge to work in the IT field as a computer technician and/or computer analyst/specialist. Private sector firms and public companies need computer forensics experts in support of criminal investigation or computer/network maintenance and retrieval of information.
