Program Description

The Computer and Network Support Certificate concentrates on the practical operation, maintenance and use of computers, computer networks and their peripherals. This intensive hands-on program prepares the certificate holder to maintain the hardware and software of computer and network systems. Computers are generally networked in LANs and on the Internet in homes, factories and offices. This program teaches students to install, configure and maintain these systems. Students also learn to assist and train computer users in the use of modern software and hardware.

This certificate is intended to prepare students for entry-level positions in computer/network support departments or as the computer/network specialist in a small to medium size office.

Program Goals

Upon graduation from the Information Technology/Computer and Network Support program, graduates will be prepared to:

  1. Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
  2. Provide users with technical support for network, computer/systems problems.
  3. Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken or installation activities.
  4. Demonstrate professional conduct including responsibility, effective communication and ethical standards.
Career Opportunities

Companies and agencies of all sizes that use computers. These courses are not intended to bring students to a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) licensing level, but rather for graduates to be prepared for an entry level position.
